Becoming a paddler

We encourage all paddlers to obtain a British Canoeing On the Water membership where you can register your awards, which includes a waterways licence and insurance to paddle over 4,500km of river navigations and canals across England and Wales.

If you wish to further your paddling skills into kayaking, the club run a series of beginner's course's throughout the summer. On completion of the the 'Discover' course you will have 1 years free membership of the club. Instructors are unpaid club volunteers and on joining the club we similarly expect people to volunteer to help.

As a member of NCC you will get to continue developing kayaking skills, meet other like-minded members and become part of our growing paddling community. You will be able to use club equipment or store your own.
